Foster Program

Many of the animals that leave Scotland County Humane Society/J.D & Fran Asher Animal Shelter are saved by adopters and animal rescue groups all over the country.

Temporary Fostering can provide the shelter animals a loving family that helps them grow, recover from anything they’ve been through and make them more adoptable as well as making valuable space at our shelter to save lives.  If you become a foster for SCHS, you will be responsible for the daily care of your new foster.  We are responsible for all of the medical care.

Our greatest need for fosters are for small kittens, puppies and special needs adults.  Some of these animals need a lot of TLC and socialization.  All fosters are up to date on vaccines (if old enough) and spayed/neutered prior to fostering (if old enough).  Any animals currently in your home would need to be up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered.

Please complete our adoption/foster application if you are interested in fostering!  Our Foster Coordinator will contact you or you can email shelter@scotlandhumane.org for more information.
